When it comes to children in need, South Asia knows no end.
With over 44 million vulnerable children; orphanhood, enslavement, and exploitation are rampant. With nearly half of the child population having no access to education - the future doesn’t look very bright for these little ones.
At Rise+Shine our mission is to rescue and support the most vulnerable children in South Asia. Providing them with food, clothing, job training, and an education that makes breaking the cycle of poverty possible in their lifetime.
Clean water is the world's foremost medicine.
Out of all of the people in the world that don’t have access to clean water, more than twenty five percent of them live in South Asia. One in ten people in South Asia, don’t have access to clean drinking water - that’s over two hundred million people!
Not having access to clean water can be very difficult on a family. Some families take regular day trips to the closest river or pond and carry back what dirty water they can find. Not only is it toxic to drink but it keeps these kids out of school and at risk of being kidnapped along the road.
Furthering education is the key.
Even for those with access to schools, finding opportunities for higher education and employment can be extremely difficult, especially for orphans.
For this reason, Rise+Shine is committed to providing a path for students to obtain professional skills to become nurses, electricians, diesel mechanics, farmers, tailors, chefs, and computer technicians. These practical skills unlock many opportunities within the local communities for ongoing employment.
Chicken Farms
Here at Rise+Shine, we have launched a social enterprise that will help provide fresh eggs for the kids in our homes, well paying jobs for its employees, and funding for our organization. We are bringing hope and healing to a new generation of leaders, raising them up to be lights in the darkness and ambassadors of change in their communities.
This chicken farm is the maiden voyage in our long-term sustainability strategy. This one business alone is currently generating 15% of the annual revenue needed for operating costs of Rise+Shine.
